Every jungle pyramid in your seed. Solve the lever puzzle, survive the arrow traps.

Jungle Temples (Jungle Pyramids) are surface stone structures in Jungle biomes. Each contains a tripwire trap that fires dispensers, three lever puzzles, and two chests with diamonds, gold, iron, saplings, and rare horse armor.

A Jungle Temple (or "Jungle Pyramid", if you want the formal name) is a small three-floor structure made of mossy cobblestone and vines, tucked away in jungle and bamboo jungle biomes. Inside you'll find a tripwire-arrow trap, a three-lever piston puzzle, and two loot chests — each with a chance at a Wild Armor Trim smithing template, a jungle-exclusive drop.

Jungle Temples are genuinely hard to spot by accident. Jungle canopies block your view, the temple blends into the moss underfoot, and you can walk within ten blocks of one without ever realising it's there. The SeedLander Minecraft Jungle Temple finder skips the hunting — pop your seed in, pick Java or Bedrock, and every Jungle Temple across a wide radius is pinned on the map.

Want to find one without a seed tool? Your best bet is a Jungle Explorer Map from a cartographer villager — they can sell one for emeralds plus a compass. Villages don't spawn inside jungles, so look for villages near the jungle edge: the closer the village is to a jungle, the better the chance the cartographer will stock a Jungle Temple map (assuming a Jungle Temple actually exists somewhere in the nearby jungle). Otherwise it's a lot of hopping through the canopy looking for the telltale green-grey rooftop poking above the leaves.

Bring a pair of shears for the tripwires, a pickaxe (any material) for the mossy cobblestone, and a stack of torches so the lower puzzle room doesn't go dark on you. That's really all you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

⚠

Mind the arrow traps

Jungle Temples have a tripwire-arrow trap stretched across the main corridor. Look for the two strings running at ankle height before you walk through — shears (or just snipping them carefully with any tool) disarms the dispenser cleanly without spawning any arrows.

How Jungle Temples Work in Minecraft

Jungle temples — or "Jungle Pyramids", if you're being formal — are the only structure in the game that comes with a working piston puzzle. Three stone buttons sit in a small room behind a mossy-brick wall, and you need to press them in the right sequence to unlock a chest without tripping an arrow dispenser. It's the closest vanilla Minecraft gets to a traditional dungeon puzzle.

The finder above shows every Jungle Temple across a wide radius of your seed. Pop your seed in, pick your edition and version, and the pins land on each one. Click for exact coordinates, then get ready to look for tripwires before you take any quick steps inside.

Jungle Temple Facts

  • BiomeJungle and bamboo jungle biomes. Rare enough that the finder tends to be the difference between "found one" and "spent two days wandering". They don't spawn in sparse jungle.
  • TrapsA tripwire-arrow trap in the main corridor — two strings at ankle height connected to a single dispenser. Snipping the strings with shears disarms it cleanly without spawning any arrows.
  • The puzzleThree levers on the wall of a small room. The correct combination is randomised for each temple — no two worlds use the same one. Flip levers one at a time and listen for a piston clunk when the hidden chamber opens.
  • DangerLow. The traps hurt but aren't fatal, and there are no mobs inside unless the jungle has a cave nearby feeding them in.
  • VersionAdded in 1.3.1 alongside Desert Temples — they came in as a pair.

Walking Through a Temple

  1. Approach slowly. Crouching stops you from triggering pressure plates, but tripwires still count — look for the string stretched across the corridor at knee height.
  2. Cut the tripwires with shears before advancing. You can break the string with anything, but shears stop it triggering the dispenser.
  3. Enter the lower puzzle room by following the short staircase. The three levers are on the wall opposite the door.
  4. Flip the levers one at a time and listen for a soft piston clunk behind you. That sound is the hidden door opening to a second loot chest. The combination is randomised per temple — just try them in any order until you hear it.
  5. Prefer to skip the puzzle entirely? You can. Mine straight through the inner wall with a pickaxe to reach the chest, or break the redstone wiring behind the levers to disable the trap. Not as satisfying, but much faster if you're in a hurry.
  6. Claim the chest, then look up — the upper chest is often accessible by mining straight through the ceiling, saving you the puzzle on a return visit.

What's in the Chests

Better rolls

  • Diamonds and emeralds, often together.
  • Wild Armor Trim template — roughly a 1-in-3 chance per chest. Two chests per temple, so most Jungle Temples will drop at least one. Apply it to netherite armour for a jungle-vine pattern you can't get from any other structure.
  • Enchanted books — including the occasional high-level one worth the trip by itself.

Common drops

  • Rotten flesh, bones, gunpowder — typical jungle dungeon stock.
  • Bamboo, which you might not need if you're already in a jungle but always stacks nicely.
  • Saddles turn up surprisingly often — useful early for horse exploration.

While You're in the Jungle

Jungles are one of the most resource-rich biomes in the game if you've got the patience for the vegetation. Bamboo, cocoa, jungle wood, parrots, and — if the finder shows one nearby — a trail ruin is worth brushing. A village near a jungle edge makes a natural base for a multi-day jungle run, especially if you're building around bamboo and cocoa farms.
