Age Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Summary

SeedLander accounts are for people aged 18 years old or over. If you are under 18 years old, please ask a parent or legal guardian to create their own account. If your parent or legal guardian is happy for you to use their account alongside them, you may do so — but we advise you only use it under their supervision. You do not need an account to use most of our tools.

This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It reflects our obligations under the UK’s Age Appropriate Design Code (Children’s Code) and the Online Safety Act 2023.

1. Accounts are for 18 years old or over

You must be 18 years old or over to create a SeedLander account. At sign-up we ask for your date of birth so we can check age. We use your inputted date of birth once to calculate your age band at sign-up. We do not store your date of birth. Once you have passed sign-up your inputted date of birth is gone.

If you are under 18 years old, the sign-up form will refuse to create an account for you. If we later find that an account is held by someone under 18 years old, we reserve the right to close the account and delete all data on the account in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

2. If you are under 18 years old

SeedLander does not accept people under 18 years old having an account on our website. If you are under 18 years old and would like to use the account features (saving worlds, markers, notes, portal calculations, team collaboration), your option is to use a parent’s or legal guardian’s account. It is at the discretion of your parent or legal guardian to let you use their account under their supervision. They still remain the account holder for all purposes.

You are also welcome to use SeedLander without an account — our free tools (interactive map, ore finder, structure finder, biome finder, nether portal calculator, seed directory, guides) all work without signing up. See section 4 below for how we design the public site with young visitors in mind.

3. If you are an adult and you want your child to use a SeedLander account

You are welcome to create your own SeedLander account and let your child use it alongside you. Some things to be aware of:

  • The account legally belongs to you. You are the named account holder for terms, subscriptions, data-rights requests, and anything else that requires the account holder to act.
  • You are responsible for how your child uses the account. SeedLander does not monitor whether the person using an account at any given moment is the adult account holder or a child in the same household, and we can’t separate what you do from what your child does under the same login.
  • Please supervise. Even though our platform doesn’t have chat, direct messaging, or ways for strangers to contact your child, we still advise sitting with your child or checking in regularly on what they’re using SeedLander for — parental discretion is always advised.

If you would like to remove something your child saved to your account, the easiest way depends on what it is:

  • To delete a saved world (including all its markers, portals and notes): open the world from My Account → My Worlds, then click the world’s three-dot menu and choose Delete world.
  • To delete a single marker or portal: open the world, click the marker or portal on the map, then click Delete in the pop-out.
  • To delete the whole account (and everything in it): go to My Account → Settings → Close your account. This is irreversible.
  • Full instructions and screenshots are on our Help page. If you can’t find what you need there, email [email protected] and we’ll help.

4. If you are under 18 years old and want to use SeedLander without an account

Anyone can visit SeedLander without signing up. Our audience includes Minecraft players — and many of those players are children — so even though under-18-year-olds can’t create accounts, we design the public site with young visitors in mind. Here’s what that means in practice:

We don’t build a profile of you. As a visitor you can browse the tools, guides and seed directory without us building any kind of behavioural profile based on what you look at or how long you spend on each page.

Advertising is non-personalised on pages likely to be seen by children. When we serve Google AdSense ads on pages a child is likely to view (finders, calculators, the seed directory), we ask Google to show non-personalised ads — ones based on the page you’re on, not on anything else about you or your browsing.

Non-essential cookies only load if you say so. Analytics cookies and personalised-ad cookies stay off until you click Accept on our cookie banner. You can change your mind any time by opening the cookie banner from the footer of any page.

We don’t use design tricks to squeeze data out of you. No dark patterns, no nudges pushing you to give up personal information or to turn off privacy settings.

There’s no way for one visitor to contact another on the site. No chat, no direct messages, no public profile pages. The only account-to-account collaboration is Team invites — and to join a team you need to have an account, which (as explained above) means you have to be 18 years old or over to create a SeedLander account.

Our Privacy Policy is written to be readable at any age. The Privacy Policy explains in plain language what data we hold, why we hold it, and what rights you have over it.

5. How we check your age at sign-up

To check age at sign-up we ask for your date of birth. We rely on you telling us the truth — a method called self-declaration. We don’t ask for ID documents or biometric age checks. The UK Information Commissioner’s Office recognises self-declaration as a proportionate approach for websites like SeedLander.

We do take reasonable steps to make the age check as robust as we can without asking for ID:

  • We ask a neutral question — “what is your date of birth?” — rather than “are you 18 years old or over?”, so the form doesn’t hint at the answer we want.
  • If a date of birth is refused, we don’t tell you why or coach you towards a passing answer.
  • After a refusal there’s a short cool-down before the same browser can try again with a different date.

If we have reasonable grounds to believe an account holder isn’t 18 years old or over — for example if they tell us so in a support message, or if a parent contacts us — we reserve the right to close the account and delete all data on the account in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Nothing in this policy affects any mandatory rights you have under the law where you live.

6. Reporting an under-18 account

If you find out that a SeedLander account is held by someone under 18 years old — for example, if you’re a parent or legal guardian and you’ve discovered your child signed up despite our rule — please email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Under-18 account report”.

Please email us from the same address the account is registered under, if you can. This helps us verify the report is genuine and act on it quickly. If you can’t email from that address, please tell us as much as you can about the account (the display name, roughly when the account was created, or any other detail that helps us find it) so we can identify it — but for privacy reasons we won’t confirm which email address an account is registered under to someone who isn’t the account holder.

We investigate every report before taking any action, and we may ask for further information. We aim to acknowledge reports within 7 days and, where we confirm the account holder is under 18 years old, we’ll close the account and delete the associated data within 30 days.

If you would like your child to still have a SeedLander account, we encourage you to make your own account and use it with your child under your supervision — see section 3 above for how family sharing works, and section 2 for what your child can do on the site without an account.

Using the same email address is the right place for any other age-related concern.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this age policy from time to time to reflect changes in legislation or best practice. Material changes will be communicated on the site. Continued use of SeedLander after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
