How SeedLander Uses Cookies

SeedLander uses cookies to keep the site running properly, to understand how people use it, and to fund our hosting through advertising. This page explains exactly what cookies we use, why, and how you can change your mind any time.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are not viruses, they cannot read your hard drive, and they cannot identify you personally on their own. They can be used to remember preferences, count visits, or track interest in adverts.

SeedLander does not sell your personal data. We do not use cookies to track you across unrelated websites for marketing.

Change Your Cookie Choices

Click the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page to open the preference dialog at any time. Or use this button:

Categories We Use

Essential cookies (always on)

These are required for the site to work. You cannot opt out of them because pages would break.

  • laravel_session — Identifies your browsing session. Expires when you close the browser, or after 2 hours of inactivity.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — Protects against cross-site request forgery on forms. Expires with your session.
  • sl_consent — Remembers your cookie choice (this page). Expires after 1 year. Without this we would have to ask you again on every visit.

Analytics cookies (optional)

Google Analytics. Helps us see which pages people find useful and where to focus development. Anonymous, aggregated.

  • _ga — Set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_WNPP4EB1R8 — Stores session state for the SeedLander GA4 property. Expires after 2 years.

If you reject analytics, Google still receives a tiny “denied” ping (under Google Consent Mode v2) but no identifiable data is collected and no cookies are stored on your device.

Advertising cookies (optional)

Google AdSense. The ads we run on tool pages pay for hosting and infrastructure. Personalised ads earn more, which is why we ask. If you reject these, you still see ads — just generic ones, and we earn less.

  • __gads, __gpi — Set by Google AdSense to limit the number of times you see an ad and measure ad effectiveness. Expires after 13 months.
  • NID — Google’s preference cookie used for ad personalisation. Set on the google.com domain. Expires after 6 months.

If you reject advertising cookies, Google AdSense runs in non-personalised mode — it serves contextually-relevant ads (based on the page you’re reading, not on your browsing history).

What Happens When You Click “Accept All”

Analytics and advertising cookies are loaded and Google receives normal tracking data. We can see aggregated traffic patterns; Google can show you better ads.

What Happens When You Click “Reject Non-Essential”

Only the three essential cookies above are set. Analytics and advertising scripts still load (because Google requires them present to maintain Consent Mode) but they are signalled “denied”, so no identifiable data is collected and no third-party cookies are stored on your device.

Third Parties

We use:

  • Google Analytics — usage analytics. Their privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — advertising. Their ad policies.
  • Stripe — payments. Only loaded on checkout/billing pages. Their privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and security. May set a `__cf_bm` cookie to distinguish bots from humans. Expires after 30 minutes.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and PECR, you have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time — click the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner.
  • Access the data we hold about you — email [email protected].
  • Request deletion of your data — same address.
  • Complain to the ICO if you believe we are mishandling cookies or data: ico.org.uk.
