Trial chambers are combat-focused underground structures introduced in Minecraft 1.21 featuring trial spawners, reward vaults and the Breeze mob. The SeedLander Minecraft Trial Chambers finder reveals every Trial Chamber across a wide radius in your world so you can gear up and face the challenge.

These structures scale difficulty based on nearby player count, making them ideal for both solo and multiplayer sessions. Reward vaults provide loot once per player, ensuring everyone gets rewarded. Enter your seed to find every Trial Chamber on both Java and Bedrock editions.

Trial chambers represent Minecraft’s approach to repeatable dungeon content. Unlike most structures which are looted once and left behind, Trial Chambers are designed for multiple visits. Trial spawners reset after 30 minutes, and each reward vault grants loot once per individual player — meaning new team members always have something to gain from visiting a chamber your group has already cleared.

The breeze mob is the signature enemy of Trial Chambers, attacking with wind charges that knock players around and interact with redstone components in the environment. Combined with other mobs from trial spawners, encounters in Trial Chambers are some of the most dynamic combat experiences in the game. The Minecraft Trial Chambers finder helps you plan group expeditions to the most accessible chambers.

Trial spawners respect your level

Trial spawners scale the waves to how many players are near them. A full raid with friends is genuinely the highest-intensity overworld fight in the game. Gear for it.

How Trial Chambers Work in Minecraft

Trial chambers are the 1.21 structure — an underground complex of copper-trimmed rooms, each with a trial spawner that fires mob waves at you, plus vaults locked behind trial keys. Clear a spawner and it gives you a trial key; stick that key in a matching vault and you get one of the best loot rolls in the game, including the Mace and its brand-new enchantments.

The finder above shows every Trial Chamber in a wide radius of your seed. Pop your seed in, pick your edition (1.21 or later), and each chamber lands on the map with coordinates. Solo players get a manageable wave; squads get scaled waves and noticeably more loot. The full Seed Map shows Trial Chambers alongside other underground structures so you can plan a deep-mining trip in one go.

How a trial works — a trial spawner activates when you walk in, mobs pour out, and the loot drops once you've cleared the wave. Pottery pots scattered around add bonus rewards.

What to know about Trial Chambers

  • DepthTrial Chambers sit deep underground, generally somewhere between Y -40 and the surface, anchored into the deepslate layer. They can spawn under just about any Overworld biome where there's enough stone to host them.
  • Trial spawnersTrial spawners are glowing copper-trimmed cages that fire waves of mobs at you. The wave size scales with the number of nearby players. Once you defeat every mob in the sequence the spawner has roughly a 50% chance to drop a Trial Key (food or a potion otherwise) — the key is your ticket into a Vault for loot.
  • Ominous TrialDrinking an Ominous Bottle (from raids) before fighting converts a trial into a harder Ominous Trial — better drops, including Ominous Trial Keys for special vaults.
  • LootThe standout drops are exclusive to Trial Chambers: Heavy Cores and Breeze Rods (which combine into the Mace, currently the strongest melee weapon in the game), Wind Charges, and the three Mace enchantments — Density, Breach and Wind Burst. Vaults also drop standard adventure gear like enchanted iron and diamond armour.
  • VersionTrial Chambers were added in the 1.21 Tricky Trials update and are supported on Java, Bedrock and Large Biomes worlds running that version or later.

What you're trading off

The risk

Waves scale

Solo is manageable; two players scales the mob count significantly, three or more starts getting genuinely intense. Ominous Trials add a blue-fire aura and harder-hitting variants. Don't go in light.

The reward

Mace, Heavy Core, crazy enchants

The Mace is the strongest melee weapon in the game when fully enchanted, and the Heavy Core that crafts into it only drops from Ominous Vaults. Trial keys also give you loot you can't find anywhere else — Wind Charges, Flow and Guster pottery sherds, and trial-chamber-only armour trims.

What to bring before you head in

Shield Shield + diamond armour

Breezes are a Trial Chamber-exclusive mob that throw Wind Charges — projectiles that don't deal damage but knock you backwards every time they hit. Without a shield they can chain those knockbacks into falls off ledges, into lava, or back into other mobs. Hold right-click with a shield raised and the Wind Charge is absorbed instead, breaking the chain so you can close the gap and hit the Breeze in melee.

Iron sword Sharpness V or Smite V sword

Trial Spawners summon waves of Breezes, Bogged (a moss-covered skeleton variant that fires poison arrows) and Husks (a desert zombie variant immune to sunlight). Husks and Bogged both count as undead, which means a sword enchanted with Smite hits them for huge bonus damage — often two-shotting mobs that Sharpness would take three or four hits to kill. You can craft Smite books at an enchanting table or fish them up from villager trades, and they're worth bringing specifically for these chambers.

Bow Bow with Punch + arrows

A bow with the Punch enchantment shoves Breezes backwards on every hit, which is the opposite of what they're trying to do to you — it keeps them pinned at range while you reload. Arrows of Slowness (brewed by adding a Potion of Slowness to arrows on a fletching table) make the fight even easier, because a slowed Breeze stops dodging and bouncing around the room long enough for you to land follow-up shots.

Golden apple Golden apples + healing potions

A regular Golden Apple (crafted from 8 gold ingots around an apple) gives you Absorption — extra yellow hearts that act as a damage buffer on top of your normal health. Stack that with a Splash Potion of Healing II thrown at your feet mid-fight and you'll have enough overhealing to survive the hardest Ominous wave even if you take a hit or two.

🗝 Empty inventory slots

Vault drops stack up faster than you'd expect — emeralds, diamonds, enchanted books, trial keys, music discs and trim templates from a single chamber can fill several inventory slots each. Shulker Boxes (crafted from a chest plus two shulker shells from End Cities) keep their contents when you place and break them, so you can pack two or three boxes in your inventory and still walk out with everything from a full chamber.

How to Run a Chamber

  1. Scout before you swing. Trial Chambers are a connected maze of corridors and rooms, and each room can hold one or more Trial Spawners (the cage-like blocks that summon waves of mobs). Walk the chamber first with weapons sheathed, note where the spawners and vaults are, and pick which fight you want to start with — running in blind usually means triggering two spawners at once and getting boxed in.
  2. Activate one spawner at a time. Once a Trial Spawner triggers it keeps producing waves until every mob in that wave is dead. If you wander into range of a second spawner before the first is cleared, both will run in parallel and the room fills with twice the Breezes and skeletons. Stay in the room you started in, finish the wave, then move on.
  3. Claim the Trial Key as soon as the spawner clears. The spawner ejects a Trial Key (or Ominous Trial Key during ominous runs) once the final wave is dead — pick it up and right-click the nearest vault to unlock its loot. Vaults track which players have already used them, so each member of a team gets their own roll from the same vault rather than racing for one drop.
  4. Save Ominous Trials for the end of the run. Once you've cleared the chamber on normal difficulty, drink an Ominous Bottle (carried over from a raid) to gain the Bad Omen effect. Any Trial Spawner you re-activate while Bad Omen is active becomes an Ominous Trial — tougher waves with more mobs and projectiles, but the Ominous Vaults they unlock drop the rarest items in the game including the Heavy Core (used to craft a Mace) and the Flow and Guster pottery sherds.
  5. Sweep the side rooms before you leave. Trial Chambers are full of small offshoot rooms — supply chests tucked behind copper trapdoors, decorated pots hidden under staircases, and Breeze rod chandeliers that drop loot when broken. Carry a copper-coloured trapdoor or two yourself if you want to mark which rooms you've already cleared, because it's easy to walk in circles in here.

Combining Trial Chambers With Raids

You get Ominous Bottles from raids — and raids come from pillager outposts and villages. So a full loop looks like: outpost > raid > collect ominous bottles > trial chamber for ominous runs. That's where the best loot in the game currently sits.
