Enchanting Table Letters Translator
Type any English word and see it in the strange runes that float around the enchanting table. The proper name for those symbols is the Standard Galactic Alphabet — a made-up writing system that Minecraft borrows from an old 1990s game. Type below and the translator draws the runes for you in the actual enchanting-table font.

Where you see these letters in Minecraft
Open an enchanting table and you'll notice a scrolling banner above the book, filled with symbols that don't look like any real language. Those are the runes — Minecraft picks a random string of "fake magic words" every time. They don't actually predict what your enchantment will be, so there's no point trying to translate the ones the game shows you.
What people do with the translator on this page is the other direction — they type their own word, get the rune version, and use it as a wallpaper, a custom banner design, a screenshot for a Discord server, or as decoration in a texture pack.
The alphabet is 26 letters + 10 numbers — one glyph per letter or digit. So "hello" becomes five glyphs, "seedlander" becomes ten, and so on. Everything else (punctuation, spaces) stays as normal characters.
Enchanting table letters — the questions people actually ask
They're called the Standard Galactic Alphabet — a made-up writing system that originally came from an old game called Commander Keen back in the 1990s. Minecraft borrows it as the "magic language" you see floating around the enchanting table screen. Each rune is just an English letter in disguise — the translator above turns your normal writing into those runes (and back the other way).
They're random. Every time you open an enchanting table Minecraft picks a random string of words in the alphabet — usually old fantasy words from a book called The Book of Enoch. They don't hint at what the enchantment will be. If you want to say something specific, use the translator to spell it out yourself.
Not directly — Minecraft doesn't have a way to type the runes with your keyboard. What people do is generate an image of the letters here, then either share it as a screenshot on Discord / Reddit, or paste it as a downloadable image alongside their build.
Same alphabet, yes. Mods and resource packs like "Galactic Latin" replace the enchanting-table font in your game with clearer versions, but the underlying letters are exactly the same 26 runes shown in the reference chart above.
The alphabet is the same in both editions — the enchanting table has always used it. The translator here just gives you the letters as an image; how you show them off after that (screenshot, wallpaper, custom banner design) is up to you.
